Normal shedding: proper care a healthy rabbit will usually change her coat twice a year. if all things are normal, the shed areas will regrow fur as the old coat falls out. some unfortunate rabbits seem to shed all the time..

All rabbits shed twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. the process is unavoidable, as the rabbit sheds his heavy winter coat to prepare for warmer weather, and again, sheds his thinner summer coat in preparation for cold weather.. As your holland ages, you may find that it takes longer to molt and that the good fur stays for shorter periods of time. i like to see a deep molt on a rabbit whose fur is past its prime. generally, you will see dark fur around the muzzle and maybe around the eyes that spreads backwards over the head and down the middle of the back.. Some rabbits will take a couple of weeks or more to loose their old coat of fur. other rabbits will be ready to get rid of their old coats all in one day and these rabbits are the ones that cannot be neglected once they start shedding..
