I am re-habbing a 14x28 foot wood frame shed. i would like to install an insulated ceiling to hide the metal roofing. the shed has a wooden floor, t1-11 uninsulated walls, four windows and a sloping metal roof using master rib metal roofing. i think the rafters are 2x6 set on 24" centers.. Insulating a metal shed roof with rigid foam can be done one of three ways by laying the board prior to applying the roof, by removing the existing roof and installing new foam board, or by insulating the existing metal roof from the inside.. If you hire a contractor to add insulation to your metal shed, the most efficient and least expensive option is to have the walls and ceiling "flocked." in this process, special equipment is used to spray a sticky mix of cellulose insulation onto the interior walls and ceiling.. Insulating metal sheds. a shed made of metal is prone to condensation because metal is unaffected by water and doesn't allow air to travel through it.. The thinking behind insulating the roof is that as heat rises, it will meet the insulation on the roof and be "reflected" back down. or indeed stay up there longer allowing a better build up of heat in the vertical column of air in the room..
